From the Blog: What The Teams Got from Londonvasion
Henry Sudhof (Kellanved) of the Development Team has posted an article on the phpBB.com blog about what the teams learned and got out of Londonvasion, and how the experiences from Londonvasion will help to shape phpBB over the next year. Definitely a good read which you should go check out.
phpBB.com Announcement: Beyond Londonvasion
Yuriy Rusko (Marshalrusty), the coordinator for Londonvasion 2008, has just posted the following announcement on phpBB.com:
Londonvasion 2008 is now over, and we all had a blast!
This was a historic event for phpBB as it sets precedent for future plans. We would like to thank all those who attended the conference for their support, and the community as a whole for providing us with the resources necessary to make such an event possible.
As promised, the entire event was recorded and we have already begun working on editing the video. A new Londonvasion page will be added within the next week with videos, photos and detailed descriptions of what went on. Keep an eye on the Londonvasion discussion topic in the 3.0 Discussion Forum for updates from the team.
The future holds great things for us and we hope that this will be the first of many live events in the name of phpBB.
Thanks!
Stay tuned as well to Londonvasion Central as we’ll keep you linked to all of this media coverage of Londonvasion as it becomes available. Oh, and if you’ve recently published any content from Londonvasion, please send us a tip!
Homeward Bound
So it is stage two of my journey home, stage one being the Radisson to My friends house.
I find myself sat on a train in Kings Cross station, pondering my thoughts, on Londonvasion the team, the future of phpBB, and those thoughts I assembled whilst on the Heathrow Express yesterday.
(Score the seat next to me is free so, Double seat for me)
I will need to process all my audio, minor filtering to do, but I got everything (almost)
Anywho, I feel the Conference was a great success, sure there may have seemed to be more team members than there were ‘normal’ people, I found the modding talk my Paul most interesting, as well as the ‘How to get involved with the team’
I myself would not be surprised to find, some of those who gave talks, or were at the conference, not to be team members when the next conference occurs, yearly or bi-annual, there was some talk of the next one being in New York, (parents help me out here), I’d better start saving now……
But yes the conference was amazing, I wish I had more time to socialize afterwards, but I did need to get back across London Town, a nightmare on occasion (going back was easier than going to)
This post seems to ramble a bit, so I will draw it to a close now, my main missions for myself, are to become the better modder, and improve my support skills, finally listen to phpBB weekly this week for all the news (excerpts of audio too perhaps?)
I would love to see a(nother) live phpBB weekly panel debate.
(See what I mean about rambling)
I feel that was the best part, and everyone if offered a job by VB would not take it (score).
Thanks go to Marshalrusty for organising the event, and Highway of Life, for all the pictures he took, and AdamR, at least 60Gb of Video (uncompressed).
So, I will probably write another post before getting to Leeds, catch you soon

Londonvasion Has Ended
It’s all over now, and I think we can all say that the teams did a great job. Now, stay tuned to this blog as we will be linking you to all of the audio, video, and photos coming out from Londonvasion! (And if you’re posting anything that we would be interested in, please PM me a link and it will be featured here on Londonvasion Central!)
Final Updates from Londonvasion
Adam Reyher (AdamR) posted an update providing some final details regarding where in the hotel Londonvasion will be taking place at, how to find it, etc. Also, he said that the schedule will be relaxed somewhat, so although you will be seeing the Londonvasion schedule being displayed here on Londonvasion Central during the Londonvasion conference, do note that it is flexible and completely subject to change.
Also, the internet at the hotel is pretty bad, so the Q&A session will NOT be streamed live as previously advertised since the connection will not be fast enough to support it.
Update: David has informed me that the hotel is promising a faster 54 mbps connection during Londonvasion, so the live episode is back on!
Less Than 10 Days Left!
Marshalrusty, the coordinator of Londonvasion, posted a reminder today that there’s now less than 10 days left until Londonvasion. Tickets are still available but you’ve got to pre-register to get a ticket with your name on it; it does not appear that tickets will be sold at the door.
So if you’ve been slacking off on getting that registration form filled out and the money sent in, do it now! (Oh, and make sure your travel arrangements are already set in stone, airline prices can only go up up up between now and next week.)
